About the Play
The Seagull (Russian: Чайка, Chayka) is the first of what are generally considered to be the four major plays by the Russian dramatist Anton Chekhov. The Seagull was written in 1895 and first produced in1896. It dramatises the romantic and artistic conflicts between four characters: the famous middlebrow story writer Boris Trigorin, the ingenue Nina, the fading actress Irina Arkadina, and her son the symbolist playwright Konstantin Tréplev. ---source
The play The Seagull has four scenes; the first two acts take place outdoor, and the third and fourth act happen in interior. The background are painted birch tree installation to achieve the mood of the forest. I made the house with porch structure that can open and close like a book. During the intermission between second and third act, the house would open creating a interior space shelter.
